This last and final project was the largest of all. However, I thoroughly enjoyed everything I learned throughout this semester and it helped me complete my final project. My final project was based on the trash located at Fort Pickens. After several attempts I completed all seven maps which were, elevation, reefs, locations of trash, location of trash cans, and original data. Below are pictures of all of my maps. Over all I had a great semester and wanted to thank you for all of the help.

MIDTERM: Lab 7
March 6th, 2019
This lab at first looked pretty difficult to me, however once I got started I went through it with minimum problems. The hardest part was learning how to clip the data in my opinion, and making sure it was the right projection so that everything lined up correctly. I really enjoyed the freedom of this assignment and being able to chose what you wanted on your map. My favorite part was creating the layouts with the maps and making them look the way you wanted. The one issue I did have problems with was clipping the DEM data. However, overall I enjoyed this lab and was happy with my results.

Week 6: Projections Part 2
This weeks lab was very challenging for me. We covered how to dowload data, importing data, defanging data, converting data, and lastly explaining what the data you had meant. I had many issues dowloading the data from Labins.org and unzipping it to use on Arc GIS Pro. However after multiple tries, I was able to figure out how to do it. Conveting the data was also a step that was confusing for me. Making sure you input the data or feature class correctly and output it correctly is critical. If you don't it was mess up the points of data you wanted. Calculating in the excel document was somthing very new to me in this lab as well. It was really cool how powerful excel was. Over all this lab was challenging and took a lot of time, but I did finish it.

GIS Lab Week 5
In this weeks lab was all about projections and running new ones. We learned how to define a projection, how to reproject shapefiles and raster previous projections, how to create new shapefiles, how to show multiple map views, and lastly how to manipulate attribute tables. Using all of these skills we mad three diffident maps showing the counties of Alachua, Escambia, Miami-Dade, and Polk. We then colored each one different and added the necessary map essentials. This includes the legend, north arrow, scale, labels, title. Overall this lab was pretty difficult for me. The beginning part of running all the projections was a long process for me because at first mine did not work. I was not exporting it to the correct area. However, once I got the hang of it, it went pretty smoothly. The end of the lab was the easier part, this part was just editing the final map to my liking. Overall it was a decent lab and I learned a lot.
LAB 4
In this weeks lab we collected data of any saftey feature outside or inside. I chose the emergency phone poles located around The University Of West Florida. We had to located five of them and collect data on it. We found the cordinal point of each, looked at the condition, and lastly took a photo of them. Before we even got to start collecting the data as I said above, we had to learn how to create an empty feature class and input the correct setttings so that once you collected the data it would show up and work. This in my opinion was the hardest part. I t was difficult finding all the details in the settings and making sure they are correct. One tiny mistake could ruinthe entire project. The collection of data was the easier part for me. It was actually cool watching how it trasfered from my phone to the online data base. Overall I enjoyed this lab.

GIS Week 3
During this weeks lab we made three maps of Mexico. The first one we learned how to use the labeling tool and labeled all the states of Mexico. Labeling was much easier than I originally thought, however fixing up the jumbled mess into something readable was a whole other scenario. Overall the first map took the most time for me, but I figured it out as I went along. The second map of mexico showed the major roads, rivers and cities. This went much quicker than the map before. The only part that was difficult to using the attribute table tools to select specific data. We did this to separate the populations and only include the more populated cities. The third map was much easier than the rest, it was a topography of mexico and it was very straight forward. All three maps we used symbology and learned how to insert an inset map, key, legend, scale, and north arrow. It became easier each time and by the third map I could do it like a pro. Overall this lab was very useful overall and I learned how to use several different things that help format my map the way I wanted it.

In this weeks Lab we focused mainly on learning cartographic skills and using them while building our own map. We made a map showing Escambia County, Florida and highlighted the University of West Florida. Towards the begging of this lab I was having trouble finding the elements we needed to add to out map and figuring out how to layer everything properly. However, towards to end it became easier and quicker. Overall I enjoyed this lab much better than lasts weeks and towards the end was flying through it.

The first lab of GIS consisted of learning how to operate and understand ArcMap. We created a map of the countries and saw the populations of them in an attribute table. We had step by step instructions on how to go through each process like "finding the attribute table" and "changing the colors of the cities". This assignment was pretty difficult for me over all. I had a lot of problems downloading the data at first, then just figuring out the rest took much more time than I thought. Overall I think I will get use to the system as time goes on and it will get easier.
